BATTERY CHARGER OPERATION
The Power Indicator LED is on when the battery charger is
connected to a plugged-in AC adapter. The two Charge Indicator
LEDs show the charging status of the battery connected to the
charger or the condition of the charger itself, as shown in Table 1.

Table 1. Indicator Status
• If the charger detects that something is
wrong with the battery, the Charging
Indicator LED will turn a steady red. If this
happens, immediately remove the battery
from the charger.
• If the battery charger detects a failure in its
charging circuit, the Charging Indicator LED
will blink red. If this happens, immediately
disconnect the AC adapter and remove the
battery from the charger.

The following items can affect the battery charger’s performance:
After a battery has been charging for a period (as noted below),
the battery charger will stop charging (regardless of the charge
level) and the Charge Indicator LED will turn green. This is a
safety feature to prevent damage to the battery.

Charging Time

12 hours
When a battery has been left unused for a long time, it will take
longer to charge.
When the ambient temperature is low, it will take longer to
charge a battery.
If the temperature of a battery connected to the charger is
extremely high or low, the battery charger will standby for charg-
ing until the battery returns to normal temperature. This is a
safety feature designed to prevent damage to the battery.
USING THE BATTERY CHARGER
To charge a battery, follow these steps:
1. Connect the battery charger to the AC adapter.
2. Plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet. (Figure 2)
3. The Power Indicator LED will light up and the Charging Indi-
cator LED(s) will flash orange once.
4. When the Charging Indicator LED(s) turns off, align the plastic
key pin of the battery connector with the corresponding guide
in the battery socket. Be very careful to align the battery and
charger properly. (Figure 3)
4

• The charger can have two batteries con-
nected at the same time, but it charges only
one at a time. The battery that was con-
nected first is charged first. The second bat-
tery is held in a wait status until the first
battery is completely charged.
• Charging time varies depending on the
environmental conditions (such as tempera-
ture) or deterioration of the battery(s).
5. The Charging Indicator LED(s) will turn orange when the
battery(s) is being charged.
6. The Charging Indicator LED(s) will turn green when charging
is completed.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Never connect the battery charger to a physically defective
battery or use a defective charger.
When the battery charger is not being used for charging, be sure
to disconnect the AC adapter and remove any battery connected
to the charger to avoid the chance of fire or equipment failure.
When disconnecting the AC adapter, do not pull on the cable to
remove the adapter. Always remove by grasping the plug body.
If the battery charger smokes, smells strange, heats abnormally,
or makes noise, immediately disconnect the AC adapter, and
contact your Fujitsu reseller (see “Fujitsu Computer Systems
Contact Information” below). It is normal for the charger to
become slightly warm during charging.
Do not use the battery charger in humid, dusty, or poorly
ventilated places.
Do not use the battery charger if any foreign substance, such as
water, dirt, etc. has gotten inside.
